レイクだけ？ レイク・ディストリクト（湖水地方）
レイク・ディストリクト（湖水地方）にはもちろんレイク（湖）だけではなく、イギリスでも有数の美しいレイクと山がある観光地です。アトラクションやイベントも多く、旅行には最適な場所です。一番の旅行シーズンは春です。
レイク・ディストリクト（湖水地方）はとても美しい自然環境で、約２２８０平方kmの大きさを誇り、イギリス最大の国立公園です。
レイクがたくさんあって紹介しきれないので、私のお気に入りのレイクを挙げたいと思います。
バッセンウエイト・レイク
長さ約４マイル、幅約０．７５マイル、深さ約７０フィートの大きさです。サイズ的にはそんなに特別ではありませんが、ヴェンダースという珍しい魚がいます。
ブラザーズ湖
本当にため息の出るような美しい湖だと思います。でもこの場所は、湖よりもラージ・トラウトという魚が有名です。
コニストン湖
長さ約５マイルで、確か湖水地方の中で３番目の大きさです。私がこの湖を好きな理由は、子供時代に読んだ本「ツバメ号とアマゾン号(Swallows and Amazons)」アーサー・ランサム作の舞台がこの湖だったからです。
キリングトン湖
確か人の手によって作られた人工の湖だそうです。フィッシングやバードウォッチングに最高の場所です。

Are there any lakes in the Lake District?
The Lake District has some of the most beautiful lakes and mountains in the UK. It has a splendid choice of exciting attractions and plenty of events(Cumbrian) that makes the Lake District a perfect holiday destination. The best and most common time to visit is in the springtime.
The Lake District's with its beautiful natural environment and at nearly 885 square miles, it is England's largest National Park.
Bassenthwaite Lake
Bassenthwaite Lake, is approximately 4 miles long and 3/4 mile wide, and roughly 70ft deep and is populated by the rare vendace fish species.
Brotherswater Pass
Brotherswater is known for it's breathtaking scenery. It is also known also for its large trout.
Coniston Water
Coniston Water is approximately 5 miles long and is the third largest of the lakes. A British author,Arthur Ransome, based his children's book 'Swallows and Amazons' on the Lake.
Killington Lake
Killington Lake is a manmade lake and is very popular with fishermen and it is also an ideal location for birdwatchers.
